Lorraine “Lori” Anna Dummler (1944-2025)

Lorraine “Lori” Anna Dummler, 80, passed away on August 3, 2025, at the Alaska Native Medical Center, in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born Lorraine A. Hawkins in Juneau, Alaska on October 5, 1944, the daughter of Peter Oliver Hawkins and Mary Sadie Hanson.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Dummler and daughter Dorothy A. Savage. She left behind her two daughters, Mary Finnesand and Arleen Duranceau; one son, Mark Dummler; brother, Arnold Hawkins; sister, Shirly Haynes; grandchildren, Thomas Ginn, Tamera Ginn, Daniel Ginn, Tara Ginn, Jamie Ginn, Alyssa Vanek, Jacob Ginn, Rachel Dummler, Ryan Dummler, Christopher Jefferson, Mariah Lenard, Amber Riordan, and Edward Lenard; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Lori obtained a native allotment on McCarthy Road in the early 1970s where she and her husband Ed built an off-the-grid cabin and farmed the land. Although she was a housewife for 52 years, she had worked previously at the Alaska Native Services Hospital as laundry attendant. Lori was known and loved for her joy in playing cribbage. She was also a talented wood carver and artist who loved to draw.

Funeral services will be held at the Chitina Community Hall, in Chitina, Alaska on October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at the Dummler family gravesite at the homestead.
