benghaan' saeni

It's nice to pause and notice the signs of the fall season since last week's equinox, during this short period of equal days and nights. Looking up McCarthy Creek, there is termination dust snow on the peaks. The creek is getting low and clear, as most glacially influenced rivers do during this season. The aspen and cottonwood leaves turn bright yellow while higher elevations are tinged red. In Ahtna benghaan' saeni, pronounced "ben-gon san-nee", means "middle time" for October.
