Beverly Jean Abraham (1951-2025)
Beverly “Bev” Jean Abraham, 74, A resident of Slana, Alaska passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, October, 11, 2025 at the Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.
Bev Abraham was born on January 8, 1951 in Chestertown, New York where she lived with her parents and siblings until 1974.
In July 1974, she married Raymond Abraham and lived in Wells, New York with their combined 7 children. She loved Raymond Abraham, Jr.; June (Abraham) Mallory; Richard Abraham; Fred Abraham; Beckie (Abraham) Briggs; James Abraham; Terri (Abraham) Haskell and their families so much. In August of 1986, Bev moved to Slana, Alaska with her family where she lived a homesteading lifestyle. The first 2 years Bev lived in Slana at their original 5 acre homestead up Slana River and Grayling Creek. For 1 year Bev and her family lived in a house on Nabesna Road. In 1989, Raymond and Bev purchased the current land she called home.
Bev Abraham volunteered at Chistochina School in Chistochina, Alaska from 1990-1992. When Slana School opened in January of 1993, she began working there as a teachers aide. She worked at Slana School until 1998. She continued to support Slana School by attending fundraisers or donating what she could.
In 2005 Raymond and Bev divorced. Bev Abraham chose to stay in Slana, Alaska where she remained in her home and close to her family and friends. She lived a simple life on her own terms.
Bev loved her family and friends deeply. She loved hugs, FaceTime, phone calls, and visits with loved ones, having coffee and tea with friends. She made sure everyone around her was okay and she would do everything she could to help them out. If she had it, she’d give it. Even if it was just a check in phone call.
She is survived by her children Richard (Julie) Abraham; June (Abraham) Mallory; Beckie (Abraham) Briggs (Ken); James (Scooter) Abraham; Terri(Abraham) Haskell; and former daughter-in-law Amanda Abraham; grandchildren Danielle (Briggs) Palmatier; John Abraham; Kenny Briggs; Demetri Haskell, Deven Abraham; Daniel Abraham; Logan Abraham; Derrick Haskell; Thomas Abraham; Tracey Abraham; Dominic Haskell; LaToya Mason; and Crystal (Wert) Fountain; siblings Joan Richard; Irene Baker; and Deborah Tremble; along with 18 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Elmer Morehouse and Emma Julia Raymond; siblings Elmer Morehouse; Pansy Rounds; Judith Burch; Betty Russo; Anice Raymond; Florence Morehouse; and Grant Morehouse; and children Raymond Abraham, Jr. and Fred Abraham.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony for Bev Abraham will take place next spring with the date to be determined.
