The Glennallen boys basketball team came up just short of punching their ticket to the state tournament.
The Panthers were taking on Cordova at the 2A Interior Conference tournament on Saturday, March 7 at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, but they came up just on the wrong end, 43-34. Stats were not available for this contest.
On Friday, March 6, the Panthers had to play in two games, though they were able to win both contests.
Their first game of the day saw them rally from a double digit deficit to defeat Nenana, 47-36.
Tim Somers had a huge third quarter, pouring in 20 points and he finished with 22 on the night to be a big part of the rally.
Cody Miller was also in double figures as he had 12 points.
That win sent them right to a game against Effie Kokrin, who they were able to take down, 47-34. Somers had 15 points in this one while Ethan Hoke put in 12 points. Miller was also impressive on the glass, tracking down 27 rebounds.
On Thursday, March 5, Glennallen opened action in the tournament, falling to Tok 48-45. They fell behind early on, and while they fought back well, they came up just short in the end. Miller led the team with 20 points and Hoke was able to contribute in double figures too, scoring 13 points.
