During the first week of March, parents will receive communication from their child's school regarding Project Exploration. This initiative is being piloted for students in grades 9 through 11. The purpose of Project Exploration is to empower students to take ownership of their learning, explore their interests, and prepare to become Copper River School Graduates of the Profile.
Through this process, students develop into creative and critical thinkers, ethical and engaged citizens, effective problem solvers and decision makers; determined and empowered individuals, and skilled communicators and collaborators. In turn, students grow into the leaders of their communities and of tomorrow.
Because of the district's partnership with Delta/Greely and Alaska Gateway, additional opportunities are becoming available for our students to participate in the following programs:
CRSD hopes to see increased student interest and participation in these valuable programs.
The Social Studies Curriculum Review Committee, which is made up of 12 members, participated in a two-hour training and then began its first review on January 28, 2026, at the Copper River School District Office.
The second review took place on February 12, 2026 . The review is being led by the committee chairperson, Mr. Brandon Holmes of Kenny Lake. March 4 is the third and final review for the committee.
There were twelve middle school applications submitted for the ANSEP March Academy. After conducting initial interviews with all twelve students, eight names were forwarded to the ANSEP committee for further consideration.
Of those eight students, five were selected to participate.
During the week of March 23-27, those five students will participate in the ANSEP March Academy, where they will engage in hands-on learning experiences, academic enrichment activities, and opportunities to build skills in collaboration, problem solving, and leadership. This experience will provide them with meaningful exposure to college and career pathways while strengthening their confidence and academic readiness.
