David was born in Redlands, California in 1949. He attended schools in Redlands and was a good student. In 1960 he went west with his family to Foster Village in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he graduated from Radford High School in 1967. He went to college at Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he graduated with a BA degree. He spent two years in the Army as a parachute jumper. This led to a job as a smokejumper with the US Forest Service in the lower 48, and later in Alaska where he became a school bus driver in the Gakona area. Dave liked Alaska’s lifestyle and wild nature. He will be missed by his family and friends, which includes brother Peter in California, Bob on Oregon, and sister Mary Ann in Oregon.
