Volunteer Spotlight: Copper Valley Historical Society

Posted

Established in 1975, The Copper Valley Historical Society maintains a cabin filled with historic treasures and archives on Loop Road in Copper Center. Eclectic highlights include stories of the infamous Allen Expedition, a mastodon tooth, beautiful Athabascan crafts, and an archive of Chitina newspapers from over 100 years ago.

The board of the society is: President Larry St. Amand, Vice President Al Sanders, Treasurer Rocky Ansell, and Secretary/Co Treasurer Barb Sanders, who founded the society together with Fred Williams.

The cabin is open to the public during the summer months, and admission is free. They are always interested in welcoming new volunteers!
